Featured Books of the Month

Sometimes, reading about fictional characters, or even biographies on non-fictional people, and how they suffered a loss in their own life, can give us comfort knowing that we don’t have to go through our loss alone.

Look for this section each month, as we will focus on sharing with you some helpful fictional and non-fictional books we have come across to help our grieving community cope. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email Michelle at michelles@griefresourcenetwork.com.

Option B by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant

This book is about how to move forward in life after suffering from a devastating loss or from one of life’s many setbacks. Sheryl unexpectedly lost her husband and feared that the lives of her kids and herself could never feel joy again. Psychologist Adam Grant chimes in with extensive research on resilience and how we can all bounce back once we have suffered a tragic loss like Sheryl did.

Parentless Parents: How the Loss of Our Mothers and Fathers Impacts the Way We Raise Our Children by Allison Gilbert

This book focuses on how the absence of grandparents can have a serious impact on how mothers and fathers raise their children. Allison shares her personal story of loss, as well as her personal research into how mothers and fathers try to keep the memory of their parents alive for their children.
